Teh City of Orange Beach has taken a big picture lok at the city's future based on Horizon 20/20 citizen input.

Orange Beach's oldest and largest neighborhood, Bear Point, Bill Lawson and the city's Community Development staff are working to create the neighborhood the residents want. They want the plan to be driven by and done by the poeple of Bear Point.

The began by having a Neighorhood Improvement meeting in November 2006. This meeting was attended by more than 200 Bear Point residents.

The City Council is commited to keeping Bear Point a residential neighborhood. The presentation by WilsonMiller included streetscapes, traffic-calming mechanisms and other kinds of improvements that could be make in Bear Point. Additional landscaping along the roadways, adding roundabouts and traffic circles, wayfindng signs were some to the ideas presented.

Undergound utilities wer high on the residents preference lists. Small parks and attractive and improved street lighting were priorities of those who provided input.
