Robinson Island Restoration: Unique City of Orange Beach Alabama City News, Winter 2007
Robinson Island has been chosen by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as the site of the 10th anniversary of its Community Based Restoration Program. Us Congressman Jo Bonner, Orange Beach Pete Blalock, Tera Johnson of US Senator Richard Shelby's office and other dignitaries were all present at the event.
The Robinson Island project includes 35 acres of water area with protected grass beds and beach that will attract fish and birds to their native habitats. The Alabama State Legislature has passed a law prohbiting the use of any motor in the protected area east of Robinston Island. Boaters must stay clear of this area to prevent prop scarring of the grass beds.
